3 digit mini Green LED 100v voltmeter

I have used several of these meters now and two of them have developed problems.
I am measuring a 12v battery, and using an LM78L05 regulator for the power input on the red and black wires.
One meter now has a missing digit, and another meter only has a decimal point. When power is first turned on the digits flash on, but them they all disappear and only the decimal remains.
Both of these are the 100v meters.
I took pictures but do not see where to upload them to you.
