DSP wont turn on!, please help

Post by fnaranjob »

Hello, I bought a DSP Laser CNC controller a few days ago, yesterday I connected the power source (12VDC computer power source), the lcd and pushbuttons worked just fine and the computer recognized the device, but today I connected one motor driver and a motor to the controller just to find out that its dead, the lcd doesnt turn on, neither does any of the leds and I dont have 5 volts in the outputs as before. I think I may have connected the controller´s power source in reversed polarity. Is the circuit protected against reversed polarity?.

Please if somebody has experienced the same problem, id like to know what i can do to determine if the pcb is damaged or if there is something im doing wrong. If by connecting it wrong I fried the pcb I`d like to know what components could be damaged so I can replace them.

I think it's burned if +/- reversed. You need to send it back (China) for repair.
Here is the estimaed cost:
1) Shipping from US to China: $30
2) Import tax: $15
3) Repair (if possible): $75~$100
4) Return shipping: $35

The card you have doesn't has +/- reversed protection. But the new 2012 (AWC-608) does has that protection

Hi Marco,

Thanks for your reply, I already bought another controller from you because the machine I'm building is for a client and I'm running out of time, also, I'm actually pretty far, I live in Ecuador so sending it back for repair will be a little hard, I do have a pretty good knowledge regarding electronics, I'm an electronics Engineer so I think I could repare it myself, i'm guessing the burnt component is probably the voltage regulator thats connected to the PS connector, I'll try replacing it.

I could actually use some help, I dont know if its possible for you to send me an schematic of the pcb so its easier to find the damaged components

Thanks again for your help

Not sure if they're willing to share the schematic or not but I'll ask them for it. Or, at least get you part of the schematic for the power part. I'll ask the engineer is possible for you to repair.
