Unstable Temp reading with PT100 and JLD612 [Solved]

The problem was related to electrical noise from the heating element.

The solution: Connect the braided shield on the probe wire to one of the blue wires at the PID controller.

For a detailed description of the problem and my attempts to figure it out, along with the various responses from support, see the previous post at viewtopic.php?f=5&t=385

Thanks to Douglas Henke for the solution. He has an excellent web page describing his sous vide cooking experiments, with info on connecting the JLD612 to the PT100 probe and more.

Re: "Connect the braided shield on the probe wire to one of the blue wires at the PID controller."

This seemed to do it for me, but also introduced a new problem - the temperature reading went up by several degrees in ~65F water. When in boiling water the temperture then read around 240F! Is there any trick to the way the jumper is constructed?
