I am switching from a MPC6515 control board to the AWC608 control board. I have most of the wiring figured out, but I'm stuck on the limit switches.

I am having a lot of trouble tracing the z wires back. There is no limit switch for my z table that I can find. I suspect the z wiring is coming from the autofocus. The AWC608 diagram shows two z limit (proximity) switches, but I think I only have one.

Would I be correct in assuming I just need to connect the two grounds on x and y and I don't need all the green wires there?
What do I do with the z wiring?

If you can't find Z-limitswitches: fine as you really don't need them... What you need is a focus-sensor on the Z-axis, whether this is a microswitch or a proximity-sensor or a ultrasonic sensor, that doesn't matter (too much) but that sensor needs to be connected to another connector ( check the manual.. i thought it was IN1, but i can be mistaken)
If you move the bed to low, it will simply stop, the power of the motor is not enough to damage anything. When you lift the bed too high it will probably touch the head.. you can see that even if you have +10-spectacles. Do not involve the Z in the homing sequence.
All you have to do is manualy lower the bed, place your object and auto-focus to the top of that object..... and start lasering..

Thank you Kees, does that mean I only have to connect the ELZ- for the autofocus and not worry about the ELZ+ ?

Correct. I checked it: your ELZ- can be connected to your autofocus-sensor/switch. At the point where this sensor is triggered, the Z will be set to Zero.
You can only move higher by pressing autofocus again without material on the bed.. Manualy (with the Z+ and Z- button ofcourse) you can only move the bed in a lower position. When moving it up, it will stop at Z=0.
