I have installed fully my x7 upgrade package including stepper drivers power supply etc.

Its almost working but my steppers are acting strange.

They seem to be loosing steps. If i jog to right and then back to left the origin moves a bit. Same with Y axis.

I've tried all kinds of settings.

Also when I cut at a lower speed it is larger. It seems i'm missing steps. Right now im currently set at 1/16th micro step and 1amp for both x and y using the included m425b drivers.

Ive tried other settings as well. with similar result.

In fact ive even replaced the x stepper with a brand new .9 degree stepper. IT handles the 1amp minimum from the m425b better but it has the exact same problem.

I'm not sure what to try next. Do we have a general config file for k40's? Mechanically everything in the xy stage is smooth.

Ok, let's say you ARE loosing steps. It can mean a few things that have to be excluded from the cause:
-Your mechanical parts have too much friction (can the head move freely in all directions? remove the belts to feel the smallest friction)
-Your motors are too weak to drive the mechanical parts.
-The acceleration/decelleration is set too high ( sometimes you may hear a beeping sound without anything moving)
-The speed is set too high (you may hear ticks or beeps during travel)
-The motorcurrent is too low (if your motor stays cold you may increase the current)
-The Pulse Edge is on the other side (Rising verses Falling edge.. this gives the driver more time to react correct)
-Values on the User Setting page need some adaption. (like the jerk-factors)
- There is freeplay on the couplings of motors to timingpulleys etc..

- everything feels like it moves very smooth and ive played with the tension tighter and looser.
- is there config file to bring everything back to defaults?
- what would be some very SAFE and sure to work settings even if they are way too slow. Ive tried turning everything WAY WAY down.

Also fyi when i jog right and left it seems to sometimes move quicker in one direction. Then sometimes it will be quicker in the other. For instance it will be a higher pitch noise moving right vs left. Then after a reboot it may be the opposite.

I don't know the K40 so i might ask..

Ill try tonight however i have no clue what settings to start with now since ive pretty much gone through the whole spectrum.
Again if anyone has any good base settings to start with ill try those and video it. Then we can adjust from there?
