AWC608 network connection timed out

Hi,
I teach at a high school and find that as I leave the laser on for more than 30 minutes, the network connection fails. I then have to restart the laser... has anyone else seen this behavior, any suggestions are welcome...

As the IP for the laser is fixed there shouldn't be a lease time.
While you have the problem, see if you can address it in CMD (ping 198.168.178.xxx whatever the IP of your laser is)
Is there is no reply, check if the IP is in range of your network (first 3 numbers must be the same as your laser's) and if the mask is still valid (255.255.255.0)
Check if the IP in the lasers menu is still 198.168 etc ....

Kees, thank you for the prompt reply. I double checked the ip, subnet and gateway. All match. I get good pings (1 or 2 ms with no packet loss)
I tried typing in the ip address on a browser and was taken to a hp laserjet configuration page. I suspect we had duplicate ip addresses assigned on our dns. Out IT printer guy thought the same. We assigned a new ip address significantly outside the typical use range.
I am hoping to find the controller's mac address to set a perment resevation to the laser... any idea how to find the device's mac address?

You can use ARP to scan your whole network.. check google for examples..

Kees, thank you for all the help. We found that there was a duplicate ip address and we assigned/reserved a new one. My students are very happt to not have the timeout issues anymore!

I teach in a middle school with a 608 and an x7. We have also seen issues with the 608 and timeouts. The first thing I checked for was address dups. We finally uploaded a new firmware repeatedly and the problem cleared itself up for now. Its still frustrating though. Just when you need it to work with the kids, the 608 acts up! We have had better luck with the x7 except for when we restart and get the recurring powercut bug.
