All,
Regarding the standard tube/PS combo that ships with the typical 40W laser.
My questions are"
1: Is it worth upgrading to a 1000mm 45W tube? (regarding POWER: is it really substantially more power?)
2: If upgraded how does one know if the power supply is adequate? or does it need to be upgraded too?
3: can you use a much larger Power supply? (As an example say one for a 100W backwards compatible to a lower wattage tube?)

that the PS does not need upgrading if "Bough from us"
Just to be specific. the PS is the native one to the China/Ebay purchased on. Which could not only vary from unit to unit. But theirs no way to know
what unit is inside. Is their some way to verify the specs?

Fwiw the current tube in my machine is a prob a 32W? measures 700m +/-

I understand Ill need to modify the case to fit the longer / larger tube into it.

Sorry no one posted an answer to your question sooner, I just finished my 32w to 45w upgrade.
The spec sheet that I got with the new tube shows 47.9 w at 15mA.
I would have to say it is well worth the trouble.

The beam has much less divergance than the original tube also.
I can just about cut thru 1/8 birch ply at 25% now vs 70% with the old tube.
Also for the time being the PS that came with it seems to be adaquate for the time being.
as far as the bigger PS, I'm not sure. Marco can tell you.

I did a lot of upgrading to mine along with new mirror mounts and cutting head. 25mm Si mirrors and 20mm lens.
The good thing about these parts is they will all transfer over to a Bigger DIY laser if you decide to build one.
I'm working on collecting parts for a 900mmx600mm unit.

I'm considering this upgrade also and have not seen the mounts addressed anywhere. What did you do about the laser tube mounts? The stock mounts are for the 50mm stock tube and the 45W needs 55mm.
