X7 X axis not working.

I've recently switched from the 608 to the X7 model since this seems to be the more up to date model moving forward. Just received 3 controllers this morning.

The Y axis works, but the X axis does not move at all.

Here's what I've done so far....
Deleted the old USB driver for the 608 from device manager.
I've updated firmware.
Swapped step drivers.
Swapped X and Y connections on the controller - the X does work in the Y position.
Checked output signal voltage from the X axis connection on the controller - very low 1VDC.

This is the 2nd X7 controller and LCD set that I'm testing now. Same results.

Does anyone know how to remedy this?

Running on Windows 7, 64 bit.

First of all, is the XY stage going home when power it up?
When you swap X and Y, did you swap the driver or from the output from the DSP X,Y. Could it be bad motor driver or ...?

For X7, use the network cable included to drive the DSP because the USB driver is not working properly. The transfer rate from the NIC cable is 3~5 times faster than using USB.
Regardless, the XY should work when using the LCD control unit to make movement. If it doesn't move, check the setup on the LaserCad. You need to make sure that the 'um' is properly set up. Also, check the user parameters for the X and Y speed.

It is almost impossible to have two defective DSP. Usually it is configuration issue. Please post the User parameters and the Manufacturer parameters screen shot for review.

The black cable that goes from the X7 to the LCD display was no good.
I just swapped it and it now both X/Y axis work.

Network cable is not a good option for our customers. We don't care about the speed difference between USB and Network. We sell a different machine from Beijing that uses network cabling and it has caused a lot of problems with some of our customers.
Also, I'll need to redesign our power/interface entry panel on the back of our machine to make the network line work.
We have 25 of these panels in stock and they're made from very thick stainless steel. Too hard to hand re-work.
Maybe I'll stick with the 608 until the bugs are worked out of the X7?

What do you think?

Yes,if that is the case
I still can get support for AWC608 because the boss may just supply for my own need. The AWC is very stable and Lasercad is sharing with X7

Hi Marco,

I see what you mean by USB issues on the X7. I just tried the laser on another computer and it won't communicate.
For network connection, the PC IP address cannot be static because it changes every time the computer reboots. I have no control over this at customer locations.

The 608 seems to be very solid.
Will it work okay with Windows 8?

I will call later today to order more 608 controllers and arrange return of the X7's.

Thank you very much for your help.

I have no trouble to use AWC608 on Win7 and Win8. The AWC608 is very solid. I don't see any major problem on that. I'll keep asking the programmer to add more feature to support the AWC608.

I talked to the programmer last night who promised to work on a patch for the X7 so it will support the Win8 through USB. He was mislead buy the USB hardware supplier who claimed that the chip support Win8. So, he is going to do more research on it
