Question on installing a new LO-X7 DSP controller-

Post by reeser »

I am currently trying to get a new LO-X7 DSP contoller installed.

I have a couple of problems/questions.

I have installed the LaserCad Software and USB communications with no
problem. Everything works as expected. My first problem is trying to
reset the DSP. I have the -x and -y limit switches hooked up in a NO
configuration. When I power up the DSP it neither times out or resets by
moving x and y axis to their home switches. I don't get the default
screen. When I close the homing switches the controller beeps so I believe
they are working as expected.
Can you tell me why the controller won't reset and display the default
screen.
I am trying to follow Tim Wehr's AW608 document (dated 8/21/11) and can't get
past the reset process. Question: Are there LED's on the board to show
limit switch status? I pulled the cover off and the only LED I see is one
red led in the corner of the board that lights when I power up the DSP. No
other LED's are apparent when I toggle the limit switches. I'm probably
overlooking something simple but at the moment I am kind of stuck on my
install.
At the request of speedythinker I am attaching a screen shot of both Manufacturers Partameters and User Parameters.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Regards,
Dick

UPDATE: The problem is fixed. I swapped out the hybrid controller/stepper driver board for @N-415 Stepper Drivers from Marco and that straightened everything out. Apparently there was some conflict with the board I was trying to use.

Re: Question on installing a new LO-X7 DSP controller-UPDATE

Post by reeser »

I discovered that if I disconnected the wires from the DSP to the driver board the DSP would reset.
So now I guess the issue is why is that true.
I am using a driver/interface board from a Buildlog.net 2.x laser build.
Has anyone interfaced the DSP (either an AW608 or AW708) to the Laser/Interface driver PCB designed by Bart Dring?
If so would you please PM me?

Thanks
Dick
