Problem Importing AI Files into LaserCAD

Hi -

I'm having some problems importing AI files into LaserCAD. When I do the import, the image comes in as
either jibberish or all the objects are scattered all over the place. Any color information seems to be lost
as well - all the lines are black, not red/blue/whatever.

If I save the file as a SVG and run it through this online converter it then loads properly:

I'm using the latest version of Illustrator, and saving the file with no compression. Do I need to save it in a
prior version of Illustrator? If so, which one?

Also, is there any chance that SVG files could be read in by LaserCAD?

I have the same issue with AI. I am running the Adobe Creative Cloud version and what I found to work is doing a save as a Japanese AI ver 3. When the file is imported into LaserCad there is a little junk that is easily cleaned and then I can work with the rest of the image for sizing and positioning. I'm still playing with other methods but this is the best so far that works for me. I have come across various AI files that just will not convert, not sure why. I have some files from a stock vector image supplier and most of those files need some conversion as well. I have read in another post that there is an update to LaserCad in the works that will make AI files more compatible.

LaserCAD has never imported AI files very well. I work in a program, open it in CorelDraw and click the Macro button. It works well like that. I know its not a fix but its an effective workaround.
