DSP and motor driver

I want to ask if DSP are compatible with all motor drivers. Also, different drivers have different pulse duration, is a dsp configurable to be usable with this motor drivers? How much deep i can configurate the dsp?

Marco's the one for the definitive answer, but the manual mentions some of the "manufacturer settings", including:
- Pulse units (distance travelled with each pulse)
- Pulse edge (depends on controller)
- start/max speed, max acceleration - depends on your mechanical setup
I didn't see a setting for pulse width.
Related to your question, I have one of my own (Marco?), since we're talking about DSPs vs motor drivers:
I'm using Geckodrive G203Vs on my build. These units have common grounds for the pulse/dir pins, not common +5V as supplied by the 608.
Can I assume that the AWC608 has regular TTL outputs (and can drive high _and_ low), so I can connect the pulse/dir pins on the motor drivers to the 608 but reference the inputs to ground, not 5V?
/Mitch.

Mitch:
I don't have GecKo drivers so I can't comment. If you have spare drivers to send me for test,I will appreciate

Hi Marco,
I'll find out if the G203V works soon enough (I'm almost ready for initial power up) - All the ground pins on the 608 seem connected together (only one digital ground reference), so as long as the 608's outputs are not open-collector it should work. OC outputs would be very unusual.
If it doesn't work and I cannot determine a workaround (an obvious one would be to build a circuit with either transistors or a TTL line driver), I'll see if I can loan you a Gecko.
Back to the original poster's (Yaro's) question - is the pulse width programmable on the 608? The step edge is programmable for sure.
/Mitch.

To answer my own question, and as info for Yaro:
Geckodrive G203Vs work fine with the AWC608 (at least initial testing confirms this). My laser is moving now, though I haven't installed the tube yet.
Rather than connecting the common anode of the optoisolators in other drives to the +5V pin on the AWC608, the Geckodrives have a common cathode. I connected this to one of the GND pins for the input blocks, and PULS/DIR to the Gecko's inputs.
In the Manufacturer Parameters, the step is set to the positive edge, since Geckos move on the rising edge of the PULS signal.

I use Gecko's in my set up and have no problems.
I would have to look at what I have if you need more info but I remember I use "low" pulse for all my settings.
