HIGH ALL,
Just a quick question, can somebody measure the dimension of the alloy beam width of 900 X 600 stage as its not shown on Corel drawing.I suspect its the same beam width across the 3 variants
Thanks

HI ALL,
Perhaps Marco can measure the aluminium beam widths please, I have a 900 x 600 stage on its way from China and nead this info for constructing my framework

All models: 640,960,1290,18120 all using the same materials for the construction, except for the dimension is vary per model

HI Marco,
The answer to the width of the materials is........ ?
not the overall stage dimensions which might have caused a misunderstanding.
thanks
Henry

Hi All
feeling a bit foolish now

, as having looked on the product page it clearly says made from 2" anodised bars, sorry for wasting anybody's time

Hi Marco,
Having put together my Xle 900 x 600 stage I noticed that it only has 2 couplers on the rear Y axis drive shaft instead of the 4 in your product photo.
Has the design been amended since the product pic was taken?

Should be two couplers on each side, just like the picture showing

Hi Marco,
Well mine came with only 1 coupling per side, furthermore the metal axis was not cut to receive the additional couplers , is it a possibility that the extra couplers are only required on the larger stages?
I can take a photo later today if you wish to see it and post here. Do you think it will cause problems with 2 missing couplers?

Hello,
I also have 2 couplers only on my XLE 1200x900 stage assembled last month.
These couplers are on the motor end of each shaft.
The difference of using 2 couplers instead of 4 is that the system becomes statically indeterminate : the consequence will be that any dimentionnal disparity will result in very high forces on mechanical elements. If all the parts are machined with very high accuracy, the system can work perfectly, it seems to be the case for me.
It is quite easy to check that on your system. Assemble the Y axis mechanism leaving the screws on the couplings and on the pulley supports loose, you should be able to move the couplings freely on the shafts. Then tighten the screws on the pulley supports : if the couplings are still mooving freely in any position of the pulleys (rotate them several times and repeat the test), alignment is good and you can finish assembly by tightening the coupling screws. If the couplings become hard to move when the pulleys supports screws are tight, it indicates some alignment problems : even if the system could work, the bearings lifetime will be dramatically shortened! In this case I would recommand to install 2 more couplings after cutting each shaft.
Regards.
Daniel

Daniel,
Thanks for your reply, I will try your suggestion tomorrow. Did your stage come direct from China or do you live in North America and received your stage direct from L.O.? As I live in UK mine came direct from China so the Q.A. might not be as vigorous.
I might have to get those extra 2 couplers which will be a bit of a "bind" or rather unbinding. as the case may be.
Regards
Henry

Hello,
I live in France so my stage came directly from China too.

Folks:
Just found out that this batch of XY stages are employing single coupler instead of double on each side. It was manufactured from a different tooling shop. I guess I would need to change it to double for next batch if it make lot of difference.

Hello,
As a mechanical engineer, I think the design using a single coupling on each side has no inconvenience as long as machining accuracy provide a good alignment. I was the case on my stage! And in this case, a second coupling would add nothing but on more assembly step.

Daniel.
