Dear All,

we re building a huge flatbed laser. We are using ESTUN Pronet-E AC servos, with their own controller. Do you think that the DSP could communicate for with the servo controllers?

I received a report from a guy who used it for big servo motor and having an issue. When it stop, it bang pretty hard. They said that the deceleration curve wasn't fine tuned or compatible to their motors.

I haven't use any big motor but 86 series stepping motor that being used on a heavy power 'Z' table. Therefore, I don't know how it works out in your case. In China, there are many companies use the AWC608 on the big machine like 4Mx2M tube riding (tube moving with the gantry) machine. It seems working smooth and the motor is "86" series which is much bigger than a 57 series (NEMA23).

You may give it a try and if it doesn't work out, just send it back for refund. What cost you is the shipping and I think it is fair that I don't need to pay you back the shipping, isn't it?

Like Marco said I tried big steppers on my 4Mx2M tube riding gantry . Maximum speed 800mm/s for Y and X 1.4m/s . There is heavy load (80kg) on gantry.


But I will try servos for my next build too. I can get Estun too but I will try Yaskawa. About bang thing I'm not sure.

we're running a machine with AC servo's (100W for the x and 400W for the Y). I can confirm that there is an issue with deceleration which causes a bang (see http://lightobject.info/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1949). This is only happens on manual jogging though, during a cutting job the whole system works fine. I'm still hoping a software fix will come along to fix this issue. It's workable, but annoying.

I'll use servos too. What brand servos you using? Is there brake mechanism? I will use Yaskawa P series ( Pulse position mode for step/dir) but still looking for other brands.

Thank you guys for your answers! We will try to make the controller work with the servos, but I'm still thinking on using steppers. We will see.
