Hi. The PopSci article from Apr'08 (http://www.popsci.com/diy/article/2010- ... ve-diy-way) had a link to your JLD612 Dual Display PID Temperature Controller, so I'm going to try out this project.

It looks like I'll need the JLD612 PID, a thermocouple, and a 25A SSR to handle the load of a common 500W rice cooker.

This is the first time I'm going to be working with a PID. I'm not finding the manual for the JLD612, so I don't know what I'll need to learn in order to use it. For example, how would I program it to correctly regulate a 4 qt water bath (that's the rice cooker). And for the SSR, is a heat sink recommended?

Thanks!
Len

I don't know why you couldn't find the manual from this site. I'm not going tell you where as you got to do it on your own. I'm wondering why so many people know where to buy my controller but can't get the manual from the "Manual" section of this Support site! The "Support & Manuals" tag also shows on top of my website: http://www.lightobject.com It's frustrating that I have to tell each one where to go for the manual. Why not just click "Search" ??
