question about USB conection lost

I just got word from my german friend that he has the same problem like me sometimes.
its just sometimes that if you wana download another file or try to do changes on the machine from the computer
the message comes " no connection" the solutions is just unplug the usb on the computer and plug it back.
I was wondering if somebody or marco has a explanation.
