hello people, i am little bit confused,
i am in need of my machine to etch something on a piece of acrylic, how do i achieve that with lasercad, please help i am trying to make a new year gift for my family.

my issue is that when i first time tried to etch something it just gave me an option to engrave, which is turn just digs a hole in acrylic, i need it to ETCH( i dont know how to explain it, i guess scratch the acrylic so that the picture becomes vewable and such)

here is the example of what the end product i need it to look like, virtualy doing the same thing, i need a picture etched on a piece of acrylic. and then some lettering.

see how the picture almost look like it got printed in white ink on the acrylic, i know it was only scratched on but how do i do that?
do i just set the power level to something really low and speed up,
please help me out here, i know to most of you this is probobly the dumbest question, but please keep in mind that i am very new to the laser world, but very excited to learn.

i have the green DSP k40 conversion, incase it matters

Before we get into more detail... What kind of acrylic are you trying to engrave?

Only cast acrylic engraves white. The cheap sheets of acrylic you can buy at hardware stores pretty much just melt when a laser hits them.

hi rushmore
like toasty say only cast acrylic engraves white this you probably can not by at your local hardware store or HD , lowes you need to order them.
the power setting should be very low and the speed not to high around around 150mm/s.
but you need to make sure your beam is perfect adjusted and the focal distance are correct too.
you also need to prepare the picture in photo picture or any photo program.
send a picture then we can tell if the picture is even good enough.
