future update request adding a USB stick or HD as memory

Hi marco
I was taking to a engineer from texas instruments ( the maker of the DSP chip) in regards to some features and he recommended that the software could be changed the way that a external USB stick or HD would be used like in computers RAM extension.
could you ask the programmer if this could be done with a OS upodate??
thanks
greetings waltfl

What is the purpose to do it? The USB port for the memory stick already serve the purpose, isn't it?

hi marco
no the port is just used as a memory for file storing but the program does not use it as expansion for the working memory like a RAM extension in a computer where the main OS extends automatically to a hard drive area. for some files the 64Mb are not enough for the mathematic calculation of the DSP

Oh. so you means to have extra RAM for the DSP chipset to process data? Hmm... it sounds interesting. Let me see if I can get a hold with him tonight. I'm not sure if he is willing to do it because any change on the hardware is a major upgrade. Need to redesign a new board, PCB it, sample it and then mass production. If he is willing to do it, then I have to name the DSP to another, could be named "LO609"

Hi marco
like the engineer said I am not such a expert, but he said that the existing DSP can handle way more RAM and to use a USB stick or HD is just changing the base routine. No changing the existing hardware required.
