Engraving shows ramps

Hello,

Previously, we had a PH Board V2 and now recently installed the AWC608 controller with V7.13.06.22 installed. Both show a similar issue when engraving at 600mm/s. We tried various start speeds, accelarations... but at that speed the issue remains. When lowering the engraving speed the edges disappear so it looks like it's speed related. We're just wondering if other people experienced the same issue and whether it can be solved by finetuning certain settings. Looks like the laser can't fire 'in time'? Can it be PWM frequency related? Our first tests with PWM don't point in that direction, but we're still considering the option.

The attached images show the small edge or 'ramps'. At the big C the left edge shows the issue and the Y in the second image shows the same issue. As stated, we can engrave at lower speeds for better results, but the faster we can engrave the cheaper it gets, right? ;)

We use a Reci Laser 100W, flying optics, anything else that can be of influence here?

Thanks for any information or suggestions.

Wim

My first question is, what material are you engraving on? Is it made for laser engraving? Do you have the same problem with other materials?

I know it's a basic question but not everything engraves well. From the pictures it looks like some kind of mdf or fiberboard.

I'll check the focus and the lens first. Did you change lens recenly and is it convex down or up?
The 'ramp' loook like that it is burned with less power.
