Restart problem

Hello everyone,

I've been having an issue with the AWC608 DSP, I have it connected to a 110VAC input, 24VDC output power supply, and in the same 110VAC circuit I have a 1/2HP water pump, and a compressor for the water chiller, I have a temperature controller that turns the compressor on/off to keep the temperature below 25 degrees Celsius, my problem is that almost everytime the compressor starts the DSP restarts as if I disconnected the power (I even get the power lost message and I can resume the job but when the machine restarts it repeats some of the lines that were previously cut and I get a lot of charring there), If someone has an idea on how to solve this it will be welcome.

Thank you
Fernando

It seems that either the issue was caused either by the EMI from the pump or the 'sudden dropped current' that affect the DSP. There are two ways you may fix the problem:

1) add a EMT noise filter to the input (AC side) of the 24V DC power supply for the DSP.

2) add a big DC capacitor to the output of the power supply (DC 24V side) to "hold" the voltage stable.
Try a DC50V 10,000uF see if it help. If not, double it by parallel.

Marco,

I've solved the issue, turns out the screw that connects the output of the temperature controller was a little loose!
For the record, not even a 30000 uF capacitor could stop the surge caused by the loose screw, now I have another problem, the controller doesn't want to pause the job!, I tried engraving some characters directly from lasercad, my settings were speed 400 power 20, I start the job but i cant pause it with the pause button in the LCD interface, and I have to hit stop several times if I want to stop the job, I thought it may be just that machine but I tried with another one with the same controller (AWC608), and the problem is the same, someone has had this problem? any ideas on how to solve it? Thank you.

Best regards,
Fernando

What version of LCD you used? Check the version by using the LCD control panel. Also, check the version of the mainboard as well. There is update patch need for older model AWC608.
