I'm starting to do all the wiring for a 40W buildlog.net Laser. I purchased a AWC-608B DSP and TB6560-4V5 from LO.

I assume I've got to hook into the controller parallel port pins to the DSP. I think I've got everything figured out except the DC5V. Do I need to connect the DC5V for X/Y/Z or will just the STEP / DIR be enough? If so can I just feed the DC5V from someplace off the DSP?

Actually I don't recommend to use TB6560 3axis or 4axis for the DSP. It's a little complicate to do wiring. Plus, overall performance isn't good as a single axis stepping motor with fine resolution and controlling. This board is not the same as the Bart's 4 axis card where I guess he layout all the pins direct to the connection terminal.

Anyway, let's give a try.

The TB6560 output signal should be "Level High" without PUL- or DIR-. Let 's do a small trick here.
So, instead of trying to connect to the +5V of the DSP, let's do it to "GND". Note, I haven't done it before but this is my guess.

TB6560 parallel port DSP
-------------------- --------------
GND > GND
PIN2 > X-PUL
PIN3 > X-DIR
GND > GND
PIN4 > Y-PUL
PIN5 > Y-DIR
GND > GND
PIN6 > Z-PUL
PIN7 > Z-DIR

Well I gave it a shot and it didn't seem to work. At least no motor turnage

I'm going on the assumption I can jog the motors from the DSP without a PC connected?

I think I'll order 3 single axis controllers.

Sorry it didn't work out. I haven't tried it myself as I usted Mach3 to drive the 2Axis,3Axis, and the 4axis board. When I got spare time, I may give a try. Recently my time was totally occupied. I need to upgrade my system to Win7 and Win8 fo testing the DSP controller card as some folks complained that the DSP may not function properly with Win7

For motor with 1.2A or less, use the M415 driver

For bigger motor with 4A motor, use the M656 (or 566)

Peformancie is ensured. Less noise and run smoothly as it's using micocontroller instead of the Toshiba TB6560 driver IC
