I'm building a lasercutter and i'm having a problem.

My limit switches are on the upper right of my x-y stage
My laser entry point is to the upper left of my x-y stage.

I want my zero point to be on the upper left (as close to the laser as possible)

But at the moment my zero point is the upper right. For Y this is fine but for X it is not.

How can I change the x value/setup so that after it hits the limits switch it knows that it is in position 650 in stead of 0.

I'm not at the point of testing the laser but i presume that every thing will be mirrored or upside down?

My laser says on the lcd that it is moving 450 mm. in real time it is moving (about) 650 mm. So I have to change the pulse distance.
That should be somewhere about 34, I'm doing this just to start and have a rough calibration before the real deal.

But when i put in a pulse distance above 28 the machine stops working........ Weard noise but now movement. So, somewhere there is something wrong in the setup. But where?

You must have the limit switch installed to the Upper Left if you want the parking is at Upper Left. We called it "Home" and home switches (limit switches) must be presented in order for sending 'home' signal to the DSP card.

But, you want want limit switches on Upper Right but HOME at Upper Left, then you ned to do setting on "Work Space" where you can select the location of "Machine Zero".

Let me do some test to confirm it. Give me a moment.

My assumption was not right. After a few test, I found that "Machine zero" somehow cause image reversed to the original image. It's a little confusing and I will spend more time to figoure out how it work

In the mean time, the homing switch must installed to wherever you want the laser head to park and it is the true physical "zero"

Update: Forget to answer your question of the Pulse distance. The max number for the "Pulse distance" is "30". An alternative approach of greater 30, you must change stepping motor driver resolution. If you'e running 1/16 (3200), try change it to 1/32 (6400). That way,the pulse step should be cutting by half.

It is not a true "home" if it's coordinates aren't 0, it's an origin. I'm not sure why you'd want to have it start at 650, as it means your files would have to work into the negatives, as going positive would crash the machine.

You could just set the true home with switches somewhere else, then set the origin on the machine with the origin button to the top left, then in the software set the Position Relative for the laser to top left also, meaning it'll move downwards and to the right to cut.

I understand about the steppermotor and will change it.

About the limit switches, it was easyer to put them in the upperleft for wiring.

So if I could program X to read the homeswitch as value 650 that would say that the workfield is to the left. At the moment everything is mirrored.

I will change the switch to upperright and that will solve my problem. It is just not the cleanest solution but fine.
