"Run Box" during rotary work

Is there a trick to getting the "Run Box" feature to work when using a rotary axis?

So far I can not get the rotating axis to represent the extents of the job.

Seems not to be scaled as the job is, re the diameter setting.

Thanks,

Greolt

Can anybody confirm that the DSP will vector cut/engrave on a rotary axis.

It would appear to me that engraving will work, as in the rotary positions will be scaled to the set diameter.

But vector cutting/engraving does not scale the rotary positions and therefore will not do vector work on a rotary axis.

Please tell me I am wrong. :)

Of course it can. If the size of result didn't fit, it means that the setting was not right on your setting. What kind of rotary are you using? Send me some pictures and the setting for the rotary. Are you using "Y" for driving the rotary, correct?

Marco I am glad to hear that the software works as it should. The question is, what I am doing wrong and how can I do it right.

The rotary is a chuck type.

Settings on the the "Advance Function" page are as follows:
Enable, checked
Rotate axis con(um): 25.4 (same as Y axis)
Step per roate(pulse): 80000 ( number of steps for 360 degree rotation of axis )
Current diameter(mm): 70 ( diameter of job in rotary)

With the above settings, engraving is produced at the right dimensions.

I am using the Y axis output for the rotary.

Engrave a 10mm square: It comes out at 10mm x 10mm.

Vector engrave the perimeter of the same 10mm square: It comes out at 10mm x 1.5mm, 10mm along the X, and 1.5mm around the rotary (along the Y)

Engraving correct, vector incorrect. All settings unchanged.

Thanks for any advise you can give on this.

After talking to the programmer, he said that the vector (cutting) is not possible runnung on a rotary but only engraving is possible.

Marco

Thanks for checking that out.

When I used my rotary, I didn't bother to use the rotary function. I just set up two machine parameters, One called " table". And the other " rotary". The Y would have to be reset for different dia.

Yes I need to work out a formula which will give a step distance value to use for any given diameter.

However when raster engraving the scaling function controlled from the "advanced functions" does indeed work.

This is handy and I believe, worth using, because once set up, it only needs the diameter entered for a given job. All the scaling is then done.

And of course as mentioned above, the vector engrave/cut disregards the settings. As does the 'Run Box"
