Very exciting day today, placed an order and got everything in 24 hours,

Getting the final pieces of my K40 overhaul

Got my new Lens with 50.8 focus instead of 68.5 that I have been using, which also works great but for 3mm plexi, I learned from the Pros on this site 50.8mm is money

Also got my Mirror Upgrade. 3x HQ Si Mirrors.

Just have some final tweaking to do and the only things that actual K40 are the XY stage and the laser itself. Everything Else is top of the line Light Object equipment.

Even as it stands right now with out the mirrors upgrade and lens this machine is so far superior of what it was stock it's not even funny.

So I don't see many people post pics of this stuff so I figure I'll show you guys some HiRes comparison photos of the k40 Chinese parts next to Unmatched quality products that light object provides

This is 18mm vs 20mm and Focus 50.8mm vs 68.5

This is the reason I decided to get me mirrors the Mirror in location 1( next to Laser) was burnt and non salvageable due to the fact that at the factory they assembled the laser with distance from the mirror of less then 3/4 inch. Six month ago I didn't know ant better. Had no clue that the first mirror should always be at least 1 ONE inch away from the Tube. If not then you end up with what I have on my hands.

Also highly recomend everyone making themselves this little tool that allows you to quickly focus for prefect cuts

Hello everyone, i have yet anoyther little update to share with you guys, i have been changing some things around so that the machine can be more versetile and more apealing for someone else to use. so i have relocated all of the switches to the main panel so there no more switches on the water cooling end of it, also ordered some quick disconnects to the tubing so no need to drain.

anyway check out my new panel

then i remember in the very begining some of you have showed concern over the very small size reservoir in my cooling system, i know the how days are coming so i decided to go ahead and make my own reservoir, ill show it mounted in a few days.

and these are the brackets i made on the laser

and finaly i have been noticing weird buzzing sounds during idle times, and just overall noise of the machine, so i went ahead and got the EMI filter, i didnt get it at LO i actually had one, its a 20amp, super beefy one, check it out, its huge

When I import a DXF file into LaserCad a message appears saying " Parsing out file......." then LaserCad crashes. LaserCad is suppose to handle DXF files so anybody have any ideas what might be happening.

Completed the wiring and installation on my K40 this weekend. I cannot get the stepper motors to stop in the same place twice. My motors especially Y axis bang. I was able to burn a 50mm test pattern, which was a rectangle. When I made the adjustments to UM it was less than 1.0 When I save to machine and read the machine again it defaults back to 1.0 even? ANy suggestions?

Most likely have to change the step on the drivers. Also try reversing the a and b pairs.
That worked for me when I was having issues with my motors

I will try the step settings and look at the wiring. Thanks!

"UM" can't be smaller than "1" by any mean. If you set the motor driver to 1/8 resolution, the "um" for the motor (on LaserCad parameter setup) should be 12.65 or around. Use the LaserCad built in UM calculator feature to find the 'um' value by makeing a draw and meaure the true dimension. I have mentioned it times how to do it so I'm not going to repeat it again. The K40 step by step conversion should cover that as well

Wiring was backwards, but it just changed the polarity of the motor movement. They do seem to run a bit smoother. I will try Marco's rcommendation and post my results. I did go back in the step bt step and somehow missed that even though I had it highlighted.

Thank you for the responses. Between the reversed wiring and changing the setting on the stepper driver to 1/8 the machine is working the way I expected it to work. So much smoother than the Moshi Software, and no crazy unexpected movement from the laser. I am very backed up on jobs and my head is spinning with all the possibilities that are available now.

I paid $539. The price dropped $50 the day I finally convinced my wife to let me buy it. :) I love this thing.

I am still new to the laser world so i mainly been practicing because i do not want to start taking on jobs and not deliver best possible product, which i had to turn down a lot of little projects, its amazing how everyone you know all of the sudden wants somthing made or engraved, dont get me wrong i did a ton of little engraving gigs but nothing serious, i still cant figure out how to engrade a picture and get it looking like a picture lol

Here is another thing i made on my Laser machine, its my Electronic Cigarette Holder/Charger, I dont know about you but i always have trouble leaving my Ecig on the table, when i try to stand it up it falls over, when i lay it down it rolls away, so i came up with a Holder solution and it charges my spare battery at the same time, best part is that i did not buy any special electronics, i just took apart the little charger wire that came with my EGO and built it into the stand, it lights up all nice when its charging too for visual aid.
