Yes you are right the Chinese manuals can be a bit light.

I am happy to hear your commendation of Marco's support.

I am still very much leaning towards getting this controller. My laser is still under construction.

The other controller option (Retina Engrave) has almost no supporting documentation that I can find.

Initially I was concerned with the DSP being tied exclusively to Corel and Autocad, but reading a bit more it looks like Lasercad can import all types of files.

I can always build an inverter circuit for the signals if it came to that.

There is no doubt that Marco will do the best to help and give you the best advice and support possible for the products that he sells and we should consider that he has to work between the programers and he reliefs a lot of load from them . Also we need to understand that he is collaborating with a chinese manufacturer (I THINK is chinese ) and he is working hard to develop a better instruction manuals for us to use. Is there any other commercial controller in the market similar or better than the DSP for less than $500.00? I don't think so!! not even close to this price. So please lets be patient with him and work together to get a better experience. Edgar G

If you are in design your new laser, be careful to keep high voltage away
from metal frame and ground the frame, it happen to me the highvoltage sparked to metal and destroy 2 250 gecko drivers,I recomment dsp over rectina,once you send the job to dsp you no longer need window running, no worry about disconnect issue like rectina or smoothstepper, I have use 2 2011 dsp,and already ordered 2012, but seem like 2012 has more problem than 2011,yes you can import almost any file format.if you need any helps let me know. ltran2000

That is a very good point that you make. I see that as a substantial advantage

I guess it is a new version and needs time to work out these glitches.

yes once I use DSP I don't want to go back the controller that depend on window , another good feature of LO DSP is you can change speed and laser power at middle of the job,I know some commercial laser don't have this feature.

I have received my LO DSP. It was delivered very quickly. Direct from China. Thank you Marco

You can imagine my surprise to discover that all the info I have been able to track down re driver connection has shown to be incorrect.

A couple of posts above the engineer even confirmed that "step/direction/ground" driver connection was available and OK.

See attached pics from available documentation. All show six connectors per motor. This is all from the documentation that is presently on the LO site.
Now I discover the AWC608 DSP has only three connections per motor. "DIR/PUL/DC5V"

I really feel I did my due diligence as to the DSP suiting my needs in this respect.

It may well be that the engineer meant that I could source a ground connection elsewhere on the board, but I don't have direct access to ask that question.

That's an old connection diagram for V2 model!

I posted a connection diagram in many place and here is one you can look at

I didn't remove the old connection diagram just in case other folks who may need it

Regarding the ground, you can pick any ground on the connector. That's what he meant to

I will proceed with the installation and pick up a ground connection from elsewhere on the board.
