I just swapped out a leetro MPC6515C for the AWC608 and I love love love this new board!
No more dongle! The LaserCAD software works in my new PC, has not locked up like LaserCut5 did constantly... much more user friendly operation.... NETWORK! I can easily name projects now. This makes the laser so much easier to use. Installation took a full work day but I was being extra careful and triple checking everything. I had to get a little creative fitting the controller board in where the old one came out. Only had to replace 1 cable for length.
Now I want to add automatic switch for Air Assist. We have constant air. I have the switch for turning the air on and off. It's a solenoid that requires 12V DC. What is the best way of connecting this up to the AWC608? I'm thinking external 12v power supply that is switched by a relay connected to the AWC608.
Is that the best solution? And where do I hook up that relay?
Thanks for your help

Get one of this:
http://www.lightobject.com/24V-relay-br ... -P840.aspx
Use the relay to control the pump on or off but when laser is moving (OUT1). If you have a compressor (recommended), then use the OUT2. The difference is that OUT1 is triggered whenever XY is moving. The OUT2 is triggered ONLY if laser is firing.
If you must use air-pump, then you must use OUT1 but not OUT2 or it will drive the pump crazy for On off On off.... and kill the pump!
