*New* Handheld LCD control unit for AWC608 DSP

I have designed a hand held LCD control unit as a substitute to the current LCD controller. I think it would be a great help if one is operating a bigger machine, especially during mirror/lens tuning. It should be launched in about two months and I'll consider discount for 'Early bird' purchase. The retail price is $145. Early bird price is $120

looks cool. I have a suggestion for safety.... Instead of one button to test fire the laser, how about 2 at the same time. How about enter+laser, that would prevent the user from accidentally firing the laser. I don't think its a big deal with one button on a stationary panel but when you are holding something in your hand, things can get accidentally pressed.

Enter should always be in the middle of the diection keys. Look on any TV remote in the last 5 years...

Thank you for your feedback. I did think about it but since the keypad isn't really 'soft touch' but somehow you need to press it with a little effort, so accidentally trigger the laser is pretty odd. Plus, we can't change the hardware too much as doing so, it will get a lot of engineering involvement.

We already ordered hundreds of the template so we can't change it key arrangement. But if there is more request once launched, we will consider to change it even though it cost us

Update: The finised prototype product received and my tech is working on cable and connector. After that, the prototype will be shipped to me for final testing.

A finished unit just arrived today. I'll do some test tomorrow.

Also, I have ordered 10x unit and should have it in about 1 month.
Anyone who is interested please let me and I'll book it for you. For the first 10x unit, I'll take $100 each (was $120). The website would be listed for $135~$145.

Sign us up for one unit. Have to try it out. Will it work simulatious with the current control panel or is it a replacement (using the same pins)

The plug is for current DSP unit. But this plug is a little different when compare to the DSP card sold about 6~9 months ago. If you have an old board, then the plug may fit but need to push a bit harder. I'm trying to get a spare parts with old plug to come with the controller if possible.
