DSP and Limit switch & Laser Protect configuration.

Post by Yepez »

Hello.

I spend hours trying to configure my limits switches using a normally closed configuration, but I can't find where to configure, because by default the system detects the limits (or home# switches when you close the circuit, but I want to use the opposite configuration.

Reading the older manuals PHcad v4), by the way I am using LaserCAD v5.77, there is a "Limit_Lever:" setting, but I can't find it on LaserCAD v5.77.

If this behavior is not possible to do with the limit switches, is OK, I can live with the limits with an "active HIGH" setting (for safety it should be "active LOW") I just need to change the wiring in the limits switches, but with the Laser Protect it is not possible to do it in that way, because my water chiller, only have a normally closed protection switch.

Please I need some advice about this issue.
Thanks in advance.!!

I don't have your version of the board, but on all the earlier versions, you should NOT be wiring your limit switches Normally Open closing to 5V. They SHOULD be Normally Open closing to Gnd. That way you have exactly what you want - active low!

Your Normally Closed protection switch (if closed to Gnd) should be connected directly to the WP of the laser PS. That way, it opens on alarm, breaking gnd connection to WP and laser will not fire.

If you have normally closed protection switch connected to 5v, then a simple inverter between the switch and the WP on the laser supply will handle it for you.

Limit switches for the 2012 need to be normally open and when triggered the connect to ground.

I've attached the manual for LaserCad 5.7, which for some reason was excluded from the RAR file when 5.7.2 was uploaded.

Yes I have the 2012 version (AW608).

So, if There is no way to change the behavior of the limits in the software, then I had to change the wiring.

I wil connect in this way, normaly open and close it to Ground. (I don't like it, but who cares.!!), and connect the chiller water protection directly to the Laser PSU.
And use the "protect" on the DSP card and wire the "E-Stop" and "Safety key" signals..

Is this configuration correct?

Thanks Gadroc for the manual, I was looking for it. :)

Thanks.

I also thank you Gadroc for the manual ! I've been looking for it too, I even asked Marco but he never responded to that particular question.
