Help with the DSP AWE-608 2012
I got my dsp running nice and smooth and running with the software laserCAD v5.5, however, I have coreldraw x4 installed on my computer and I installed the drivers that suppose link my dsp with coreldraw together but I haven't been able to see my card from corel to output a job. What do I need to do to make it work?
Also how do I set up the IP network feature? I see some settings for that on lasercad software (PC), but I don't see any of that on the dsp lcd menu. I would appreciate some help a lot.

You have to set the IP Address on the LCD panel of the DSP. Hit menu and then press the down arrow button till you've selected the Network Config. There are more menu options than fit on the screen and the Network config is number 8 or 9 so you just have to keep pressing the down arrow till it scrolls to it.

Re: Help with the DSP AWE-608 2012
Thank you Gadroc, I have gone thru all the menu of the dsp lcd control and there is not such a thing. I ordered the 2012 that supposed to be the most recent one. could that be a software issue? Also I still can't figure out how to print from corel draw, I installed the corel draw drivers as well as the lasercad v5.5 and I can't see the output to dsp from corel d. I'm I missing something or doing something wrong? What do you suggest?

I use CorelDraw X5 which doesn't work with it yet. My work around is just to export my drawing as a DXF and then imp or that into LaserCad. Works great.
As for the menu check the system information option.
I display the following on it:
Product Name: AWC608
Main Board: 5.11.10.30
LCd Board: 5.11.10.30
Check to see if yours is a different version.

Re: Help with the DSP AWE-608 2012
When did you purchase it? Is there a RJ45 network connector on the DSP board?
Only the 1st 10 board from the 1st shipment didn't come with network support. All cards shipped after should have the network card ready. I'll send your image to the programmer see if it's software issue. If so, it should be able to fixed easy by running a upgrade patch on the card

Thought I should clarify one thing for you in case you are expecting a certain behavior.
You don't communicate directly form Corel and the controller (laser). You design in Corel and the plugin allows you to send the job directly to LaserCad. In LaserCad, you set the power and speed for the various layers and then send the job to the controller (laser).

Thank you Tim,
Excuse my ignorance as you can tell that I'm very new with this but I love to play with technology and I want to enjoy the experience of creating quality stuff with this machine. I understand that it will take some time to learn a lot of techniques to achieve what I want. Is there any tutorial that shows the process on how to prepare a job in corel d and send it to laserCAD?

Don't know if there is a tutorial, but if you scan the manual, it gives you a good idea on how it works.wctx1977 wrote:Is there any tutorial that shows the process on how to prepare a job in corel d and send it to laserCAD?
Edgar.
You can try this flow:
1. Make sure you go through the laser_init macro in corel draw to give you the laser export button in corel draw.
2. Create what you want to engrave / cut in corel draw...
3. Hit the laser export button which will bring up LaserCAD with the drawing that you had in corel draw.
Now at this point, you will see layer options on the right hand side. It should start out with a black color box. That color corresponds to the color in the drawing now in LaserCAD. Each color is a different grouping of laser settings. You can select different parts of the drawing and then choose a color at the bottom of the screen. You will then see the new layer show up in the layer options on the left.
Double click on the layer and you can select the laser settings (cut, engrave, etc.)
When you are done, click download and this will send it to the laser (over USB, or ethernet.)
Now hit the start button on the laser.
Don't know if this helps.

I have a temporary air assist hack setup, but am looking for the same thing. Bdring is out of stock on the nozzles over at buildlog, he said a few weeks. I have not found a nice precoiled hose either as I would rather avoid buying a cable chain until I want to upgrade to laser 2.x. Currently I just use an airbrush nozzle and hang it off the focus mirror mount with wire and just run surgical tubing. Took some fidlong to get it setup to not fold down under the laser. I'll take pictures when I get back from visiting family.

Thank you, I would love to see some images of your setup. I also found an air brush compressor that seem to be just right for my project but I would have to come up with something to inject the air straight down. This is where some ideas from you guys will come very helpful. Thank you Gadroc.

Air nozzle - check out the parts and kits page at builelog.net. Bart has air nozzles there that work well.
