Z limit switch does not work. He misses a component?

Post by ctoutmoi »

Hi,
I finally installed my limit switch on the Z but it does not work :( The end limits of the X and Y are working perfectly. I looked at the components of the DSP card and it's missing the U29 (above the LED U- U+ Z-Z+) I do not think it's normal? Marco can you confirm please.

(U28 side is TLP281-4)

Just to let you know - Marco is in China with only occasional access to the forum, so he may not be able to get you an answer right away.

I will take a look at my board and try to run a test. I know there was another chip that had been left off (for the analog laser output port). It is possible that this happened here as well. Does the LED light up but the board not react or does the LED not even work?

the LED does not light and not stopping the engine when Z resseting.
The anode of each LED (U- U+ Z- Z+) is connected to a via that goes to one leg of the component is missing.

Hello:

I findally can access the Support forum as I spent two days to move the forum site from Godaddy web hosting to another hosting company while I was in Hong Kong. The reason was that GoDaddy was blocked in China.

Anyway, I'll talked to tech about it. Once I got info, I'll post it here.

Just got reply from them, you're right, the U29 is used for the Z limit switch. If you want to enable it, just use a IC same as U28 and soldering it on board will enable the Z limit. Your board was an older version (v1.2) but the new one (v2.0) has U29 installed

It is the same as U28. I think it is a TLP281-4 (hard to read in the photo). You should confirm by looking at your board and see what U28 (next to the open spot) is.

Tim,

there was more than one version of these Rev 1.2 boards, mine as I see doesn't even have IC's for Z axis control where as the one posted here has it! and I am building a machine with Z - what a fool I am!

hope at lest I have the right firmware - do I have to feel sorry for myself. :(

I still hope that it works -:)
