LaserCAD Freezing up on old files
I've installed LaserCAD V7.77.3 today on my new Windows 8.1 x64 PC. New LaserCAD and Corel files created on the new PC download and laser fine on my AWC608 DSP. And I can control the 608 from the PC via USB cable. It acted exactly the same on V7.76.
However, many, but not all, older files created on my old XP x32 totally freeze up LaserCAD. I have tried pulling the USB cable but it remains frozen until I use task manager to "end task".
It does the same when I try to d/l to a USB flash drive, again, only on some older files, other old files and all new files d/l perfectly either method.
The pic below is where it freezes up. Any ideas ? I don't want to have to re-create these older files as I have a good deal of time in some of them.
Thanks for any help !

Re: LaserCAD Freezing up on old files
You may need to use the new LaserCad to save the source file again before loading it t the DSP.
Anyway, send me an old file that didn't work and let me try.
BTW, did you upgrade the DSP OS? If not, then do it. Make sure to remove all memory before doing OS upgrade

Re: LaserCAD Freezing up on old files
Thanks for the fast response Marco !
I did save each file before trying to upload, same problem. I also refreshed and deleted all files on the DSP and re formated, same problem remains.
I'll send you one of the files, and no, I didn't upgrade the DSP this time. Would you please remind me how to do that ?
Thanks again

Get the AWC608 OS file from here: viewtopic.php?f=55&t=2845
Save it to a USB memory drive (Format with FAT32). Use LCD unit to read the file and upgrade it

I got no problem to open your file
If you want to, I can post a screen shot here but not sure if you want it to show it on public

Re: LaserCAD Freezing up on old files
I have no problem opening it in LaserCAD, just when I try to download it to the DSP.
I don't mind if you post it, thanks for asking though.
Can you please try sending it to your DSP ?
I'll upgrade my DSP then I'll try it again.
EDIT: At the DSP upgrade link you provided you state "If you're not using a RF laser tube, you don't need to run this patch."
I'm running a CO2 tube. Do I still need to do this upgrade ?
Appreciate your help !!!

Re: LaserCAD Freezing up on old files
Well it's just not my day ! I tried to upgrade the DSP, which I have done at least once a while back and it now says "upgrading" then "error".
The DSP memory is empty and I even reformatted the USB flash drive again to FAT32. Unplugged, resets, pull the USB cable and leave it out and still "error.
Any suggestions ?

Re: LaserCAD Freezing up on old files
First of all, the freezing issue is caused by applying older project file to the DSP. I think you didn't get my point from my previous post, you need to recreate the project file on the latest LaserCad.
For the upgrade issue, you may need to do a few times for the old AWC608. Just plug in the memory stick into the slot, recycled the power. Then do the upgrade again

By the way, did you purchased the DSP card from us? I couldn't find your info by using your email address:

Yes, I did purchase it from you. I probably used a different email at that time. I'll PM you what I think it was, I had a different ISP.

Well, that's not good to hear, that's what I was hoping not to have to do !Tech_Marco wrote:First of all, the freezing issue is caused by applying older project file to the DSP. I think you didn't get my point from my previous post, you need to recreate the project file on the latest LaserCad.

I've done exactly as you say at least 5 times as well as tried other methods and I still get "Upgrade error", it just won't work, so far. I'm thinking it may be because I haven't done some of the preceeding, earlier upgrades and jumped to this one (?)Tech_Marco wrote:For the upgrade issue, you may need to do a few times for the old AWC608. Re: LaserCAD Freezing up on old files
Marco,
I have tried the upgrade you link to, 608150906V7.UG5, and this one, 150320V7.UG5. Neither work, I still get Upgrade error.
I have checked memory and formatted memory on the 608 board and I've formatted a new USB flash drive to FAT32 and tried that one, power cycled, etc, etc. and nothing works.
Below is a pic of my 608 screen, can you provide earlier upgrades that I can try in proper order ?
Thanks for your help
