LaserCAD Layers assigments and limits

Wanting to create more that the default (visible) 20 layer colors at bottom of LaserCAD. I'm trying to create a test grid with different speeds, power settings for each grid square. I can't to get more colors/layers. How do I assign new objects to new layer more than what is visible?

This would be very useful - I've also noticed layers change name / color from AutoCAD.
