Laser beam burn pattern

Can anyone take a look at the pictures and tell me if the burn pattern from the laser beam looks a little odd?
This is a 100w tube that has been giving me fits since it arrived at my doorstep. The burn pattern is created by holding a piece of cardboard about 1 inch from the end of the tube while applying a quick pulse at 90% power. I have also noticed that the beam widens as it travels through the reflecting stages. By the time it hits the 3rd mirror, the beam will leave a burn mark in a piece of cardboard almost 0.5" in diameter. The end of the tube has been inspected for debris and cleaned meticulously.
I am officially out of ideas, so any advice would be appreciated.
