file "download" really slow suddenly

Until recently, sending a file from LaserCAD to the DSP has been plenty fast.
Now, however, _some_times (not always) it will never complete.
It stays on the "Dealing..." dialog box for as long as I let it. An hour sometimes.
I have to kill the program to get it to go away, then upon restarting it the "download" completes in a normal amount of time which is usually under 30 seconds.
Any suggestions?
