how can I set the proper size of the bed

I have just installed my DSP 608 and if I set the drivers to 16 it will show on the display that it reached 600mm but on the bed itself it will only move about 400 from the home possession, if i set the drivers to 8, it will hit the end of the bed. but the display will read 438mm it is off on both the x and the y similery. my bed is 600x400
