Voltmeter for 36v golf cart

Hi all, I want to install a voltmeter on a golf cart and I don't think I did enuf research. So I bought the 8135 model 200v. I was under the assumption that I could just hook it up to the batteries and be good. After reading some threads, I am now lost. The voltmeter is a 5v input, which the cells on the cart are 6v. All I really am looking for is what I need to correctly install this meter ( shunt, some volt regulator, power source...??) and how it should be wired. Am I taking the long route with this voltmeter and should just go with the 5740TV meter? That one looks like all I would need to do is hook the wires up straight forward as it has its own power source.. Help!!
