JLD404 Programmable Digital AH meter reading ~20% off

Post by StanSimmons »

I recently bought a ETC-JLD404AH-B meter and a 500A 75mV DC Shunt. I got it to replace a EPM-5740TAB current meter. With a measured 30A load at 3.2v, the 5740 meter shows 30.1A while the JLD404 shows 25.3A. Volts and accumulated Ah are off a similar percentage. I'm using the same shunt to test both meters.

I have a 20vDC 4A power supply connected to 1 & 2, the shunt connected to 9 & 10, DCv connected to 6 & 10.
A-Sn = 75mV, APuL = 0.000, APuH = 500.0, Adot = 3
u-Sn = 100v, uPuL = 000.0, uPuH = 100.0, udot = 1
FILt = 0

Do I have something set wrong, or do I have a faulty meter?

I found my wiring error. I had two alligator clips attached to the common and had attached one of them to the cell negative and the other to the far side of the shunt. When I was measuring both the voltage and the amps, the difference in potential was causing errors.

What a rookie mistake! :oops:
