I just got around to adding the rotary to my laser. The U axis will not reverse. I can swap it with the Z and it will reverse. Is there something I am missing or is this controller going in the trash...
I have reloaded the firmware and no change.

I would check the wiring to the stepper driver again. In the menu on the DSP T9 controller under U/Z axis and check the box that says rotary. stepper driver should be around 12800 steps. can you take a picture of your wiring? that would help the group.

Ended up being a bad t9 controller
