Lasercad and 40w Laser tube power settings

Post by itsmillertime »

Hi guys,

I've got my machine up and running. A Lightobject AWC608 DSP and a new 40w tube with a 40w PWM Laser power supply. I'm just trying to get it all tuned in now.

But firstly can someone tell me when I'm using Lasercad to engrave and type text into the text box I seem to get a square character that I cannot see when typing but it's always
there when I actually run the laser. It's not a spare space at the end of the text left by mistake. Seems to happen regardless of what font I use... Photo attached..

Secondly I'm also confused about what power settings I should use with my Tube. From reading here I'm seeing answers that I don't want to go above 40% as it will reduce the life of the lasertube.

Do we have any guidelines/ recommendations for min/ max settings for newbies please. re: max % for engraving and cutting and what are the best mA figures to be running at and figures we should avoid from using. I have set it up to use the PWM setting.. or at least I think so.

Would really appreciate your advice with this guys..

Thanks again

Andy
