45W Laser Power Supply Wiring for Manual Power Control

Post by ToddWatson »

Could you please verify or correct the following diagram to manually control the laser power by a Potentiometer.

I tried this connection setup and the laser did not fire at any power in manual mode. I also have an X7 module controlling the power as well (That works when I use the controller test button) The controller is isolated from the laser power supply circuit by a DPDT switch when in manual mode. Please see attached.

During manual mode, it fires only if you press the Fire Laser button switch

Tech-Marco,

When I press the fire button the laser doesn't fire at any potentiometer adjustment. I just wanted to verify that the circuit is correct.

I know the potentiometer is acting as a voltage divider resulting from 0 volts to +5 volts DC at the IN terminal.

Does the laser power supply need to be power cycled when I go from PWM mode to analog voltage mode?

I am using L to G, thus creating 0 volts at L to fire the laser. Is that correct? Should I fire from +5 to H instead?

Did you connect both (Laser1 and Laser2) WP (waterprotect) connectors to GND on the controller? Or connected a flowswitch to one of this connectors and shortcircuited the other to GND??
It is not in your drawing..

If he hasn't turned on the water protection on the DSP card he doesn't has to connect WP to the ground on the controller side. So far I don't see any problem on his diagram. If Fire button press it should fire the laser on the manual mode. Could be connection issue I guess

Check the continuity of the Fire Button. You may connected it to normally closed (NC) mode instead of normally opened (NO).
