I installed the latest LaserCad software and the X7 control module will not communicate through USB port or Ethernet.

I did install the USB driver and in the Communications Section of the software, the serial number listed is correct for the module.

It produces a "communication failure" when I try to read the settings from the X7.

You may want to run RayCam to get it a try

Mine is doing this too, I can use RayCam but not LaserCad...same failure when using LaserCad to try and read the settings.

I only ask because LaserCad shows as being updated very recently and the RayCam software has been around 6 months since the last.

Not all update is useful for us in general. They made small changes aiming on customers (manufacturers) in China with special need. If your card works fine there is no need to do any upgrade. If you want to use LaserCad I can send you a patch to unload RayCam . But you will not be able to come back to use RayCam
