Do I need a shunt for the included ammeter or is it built in? The wiring diagram doesn't show one wired in and the kit did not include one, so does that mean it is not needed?
Also, wiring up the X7, I have a cable that comes out of the controller with a Y that has usb type A and and ethernet jacks. The back of the X7 controller also has a usb type B connection and an included cable. Do I need this hooked up if I am using the Y connector?
Trying to make sure I have all the wiring correct before I fire it up and chance having a $1000 meltdown

No you don't need a shunt. It is built in
You can use either Y or the back USB for connection. Ethernet is faster for download job file to the controller
As long as you don't feed in AC110V to the controller DC power, you hardly melt it down
Trust me, some people did that
