45W K40 Upgrade

Post by Q*bert »

I'm strongly leaning towards upgrading to the 45W laser tube and the 40W-60W PSU.

For those of you who've down the upgrade, are you happy with the new performance? Is it slight or dramatic?

And for Marco, when will you be getting tube extension cases in stock?

Thanks in advance!

Already placed an order of 50x. Hopefully we may get it in 2 weeks.

Upgrading from the stock 32W to 1M (45~50W) tube, you will gain a lot of cutting power.

Example, if you're doing a cutting job for 3mm acrylic with 3mm/s, you may be able to cut it with 6mm/s after upgrade.
The quality of the focus lens is important as well.

Thanks Marco. Just pulled the trigger!

I'll order the extension as soon as you get it in.

I just send a request to my guy to run a few test. My guess may not be accurate!
He will test those tubes: 720mm, 850mm, and 1000mm on a piece of acrylic of same thickness.

Remember that both 720mm and 850mm tube runs on 16mA for full power while a 1M tube runs on 18mA for full power output

Keep water cool and you may get better power as well. I think 20'C is really to make the tube 'happy'

Here is a list of test result from three different laser tubes: 720mm, 850mm, and 1000mm

Focus lens: 50.8mm
Materials: acrylic (3mm & 4.5mm)

Laser Tube: 720mm 35W
3mm max speed: 6mm/s
4.5mm max speed: 4mm/s

Laser tube: 850mm 40W
3mm max speed: 8mm/s
4.5mm max speed: 5mm/s

Laser tube: 1000mm 45W
3mm max speed: 12mm/s
4.5mm max speed: 10mm/s

Obviously you may gain 100% cutting power by upgrading from 720mm (stock tube) to our 1000mm 45W laser tube
Speed can be set to double on 45W tube for thinner object or just a little faster on thicker object because 720mm tube is kind of weak. So, it has less penetrate power when compare to higher power tube.

Thanks for the test data Marco. I'm very glad I decided to go with a 45W tube!

I'll be pulling the trigger on the extension + tube combo myself I think very shortly. Just want to confirm two thing Marco :
Is this the correct 1m tube: http://www.lightobject.com/LightObject- ... -P751.aspx ?

Also - can you ship to Thailand. I used to be based in Australia which was fine, but I'm over here in Thailand on a posting for a few years... so hopefully its possible ?

Cheers

So about to go ahead with this order, but I have an unanswered question. The current tube is 50mm, the new one is 55mm. How did you lower the tube the 2.5mm to realign it all square Marco ? I have searched but couldn't find any answers to this question ?

I can add longer screws, etc.. but what about the overall *height* ?

My current mounts look like the attached:
