K40 not cutting after x7 upgrade

Post by custometching »

I have completed my X7 upgrade and now it seems my k40 will not cut 3mm plywood. I have aligned it and have tried speed of 20 and power of 80 and it still does not cut through the plywood. Before upgrade it cut excellent. I am wondering if there is a setting in the new software I need to change?

Use LaserCad, check the Max_power parameter. Also, check If 'PPI' is enabled or not. If In, the cutting power will be less but will reduce over burning on surface

Ok I finally found the ppi - makes no difference if I have it enabled and set to anything or if it is off. Could my issue be my focal point distance?

What focus lense comes with the original K40? I know mine is smaller than the the diameter of the base it sets in with the new head that came with the kit.

Original K40 usually comes with a 50.8mm (2-inch) lens. A useful, general-purpose lens.
Some people like to replace this with a shorter fl for engraving or even a longer one for cutting.
If you don't know any better then stick with the 50.8
