I just bought a 320/D40/K40 - 40W CO2 laser on ebay.
The Z-table was a POS. It had a twisty knob in the upper right
corner to lift the bed up and down with this primitive chain system.
Very poor construction and unusable. Not even close to being plane.
Then I saw this :

This is what I need !!!!
However, I do not want to use software to control this.
I would prefer an UP/DOWN toggle switch & a rheostat for
motor speed. Just a simple up/down circuit, but I have no
experience with steppers. Can someone point me into a direction ?

You may consider this board

Additional parts needed is a motor driver, push buttons, and a DC power supply.

Thanks LightObject !
I received your shipment and now have a working
Z table with your recommended parts.
I recall a video with this same setup but it had what
looked like limit switches mounted to a piece of plexi.
That setup would be a nice addition, but I don't recall
where I saw it.

I just found it !

If this Plexi / Micro Switch setup were for sale... I'd buy it !
