vertical vs. horizontal lines

Post by brian257 »

When engraving small letters I always have issues with thin vertical parts of letters coming out too thin in comparison with the horizontal parts. For example, on the letter "T" with a font that has a uniform thickness the vertical line comes out thinner than the horizontal line on the top. Since the laser is scanning quickly in the horizontal direction I am guessing this is due to the speed that the laser switches on and off during the scan. Are there any settings or any other way to keep this from happening? Possibly lowering the scan speed will help, but that will slow down engraving jobs considerably. If there was some way in the controller to fire the tube just a little sooner and keep it on just a little longer you could come up with adjustment factors for different scan speeds.

Or do I have some other issue causing this that I need to fix? My X and Y scale factors are perfect so it is not that.
