Are these cabinet extensions going to be made again any time soon? Lowering the mounts seems like a simple milling job. One could also create all new mounts if desired. You could even add some shim stock to the mirror mounts to make up the difference.

I'm committed now, I cut a 4-1/2" hole in the body. I used a hole saw from Lowes and a .5 amp, 1/2" drill. It worked out very well.

I did the 1000mm tube upgrade today just waiting for a case extension. sticks out about 15 inches when mounted right.

My cover came in and I have a few comments. The hole pattern is accurate but they don't match the drawing. I'm glad I waited for the cover before drilling the mounting holes. Once mounted, the assembly is very sturdy. There is no need for additional gussets. I've painted mine to match the machine. Rust-Oleum "Sail Blue #7724" is a pretty close match. Buying the cover is a no brainer if you are going with the 1000m tube.

This is what it looks like. Mounting was perfect with a 4 inch hole centered on the back chamber.

I'm in the market for a new tube and thinking i might as well go this route.

Question- Was it worth the upgrade to a larger tube?

In the real world have you noticed enough of power gain to justify the cost?

I'm ready to click on buy, just after some persuasion.

So how do you like your 45W tube? Is it noticeably better than the stock K40 tube?

I got one of these tubes Mid-2016, which means its the 55mm one not the current 50mm one. Did anyone who had this one end up just shaving down the current mounts, or was there a better approach found ?

Cheers

Adrian

I was able to use the stock mounts and simply adjust the mirrors. Your mileage may vary.
