DC/K40 Modifications some questions

Post by Fabpad »

Hello ,

I just bought K40 machine and the DSP upgrade kit from Marco .

I follow the manual and the different thread (here) .

My first question :

Big Red wire , Laser tube power supply Wire .
I took out all the stuff from the K40 , and when i take out the Power supply of the Laser tube :
- I get the laser tube with a big red wire connected to a white plug .
- New power supply with the siliconed red wire without any connector .
- Old power supply with white connector , but impossible to disconnect .

So my question , do i need to take out the original red wire wire from the laser tube directly ? or i make a new connection , between old and new wire ? and so how to do ?

I will post picture to helps my poor english .

EDIT 09/09/2013 :

No reply , so i check around the different post .
I found that i need RTV (silicone) compound to glue the red wire on the Laser Tube , But no explanation ...

EDIT 09/09/2013 2nd :

i took out the white silicone , and like this , i know exactly , how tu connect the new PS to the laser tube . ( easy when the solicone is out .)

Remove red wire connection from laser tube, observe connection method how the wire wrapped around laser tube (+) post / blue (-) same // seal with silicone. I did some digging but could not confirm common RTV or regular silicone from hardware store. The high heat compound referred to is not for wiring the tube but to make the mirror connection. If you look at the temperature ratings you will have best guide and regular silicone seems fine for k40; I cannot say absolutely whether higher power lasers require.
