Very good. I wish all you guys enjoying the DIY process. Once your got your problem fixed, you would say "How come I didn't so it is easy... " Or "Oh, it's so simple and I should ..."

Regarding the power supply, it's very easy to test it.

1) Connect the "WP" to the ground to by pass "water protection"
2) Connect the "TL" to enable the power supply
3) Connect the HV (hot wire) to the anode of the laser tube (the coil side)
4) Connect the ground wire to the cathode of the laser tube (the output side)
5) Now be careful: Once you connect the "IN" to the "+5V" on the power supply, it should fire in full power!
(or, just press the 'Test' button)

Do those without connection to the DSP card. Just test the PS direct.

By the way, the 'error' during upgrade was 'bug' becasue of the USB chipset. You can hit Reset and do it again. Or, remove the USB cable when doing OS upgrade. Did realize this issue.

Basic power supply manual. It apply to most PS found in the market. 99% fit PS imported from China

ok check your AC connection if you maybe had mixed up the ground and the neutral I had this on one machine and the PWM PS did not turn on.
you dont need the controler connection to test fire ( with the red botton).

that's what we do at our shop:

Also, this is what I do:

So trust me. We do know hard work and DIY stuff.
It's not like we're spoiled and we want stuff all ready to go, without working on it first.

I received your email and well..I am very sorry to say that the OS upgrade of the display returns errors when trying to upgrade.
But that's a minor problem.

Now, what we really need to know is this.
The Power supply is our biggest concern. How do we know it's not broken? THe laser does not fire, the laser led does not light up and the fan doesn't run.

How can we fix this?
Thanks man.

Ok, Marco, this is me speaking (and I don't have a good electronic background, my friend does but he doesn't speak english very weel).
So this is what we did:

on the right side of the power supply we have 3 slots.
First one (AC) has the red wire from the AC of the shop
Second one (AC) has the black wire from the AC of the shop
Third (FG) is empty

on the left side:

WP is connected to the ground cable that is also connected to TL, and to the G slot of the power supply.
This ground cable is connected to the cathode of the laser tube

IN is connected with a wire to the 5V.

The HOT WIRE is connected to the anode of the laser tube.
A test switch is connected to the ground cable.

Keep in mind that when we use the power button to switch the power supply on, the fan does not start.
Also, nothing happens with this configuration.

We still think the power supply is damaged :(

Open the case, check the fuse and check the terminals. It could be getting lose during transportation. It's possible that the connection to the AC terminals or the switch got lose

Then, check the fuse

The fan should be ON if AC is connected.

Everything looks fine connection wise-
The fan is not working, the laser tube does a very subtle whistle when we switch the machine on, but nothing more.

Also, the fan works when connected to batteries.

Is there any hope? :D

Did you check the fuse??
It's inside a small 'black box'

Make sure the power wire (AC220V) is solid wired, not fake wire. Use your fingers to tangle it see if it come off.

Marco, the fuse is good.
We double checked every connection and every wire.
Also, the display and 24v power controller do power up. The fan does not. it's like it generates not enough power.

Then send it back for exchange. Or buy a new one now and return the 1st one for full refund
Strange. Each power supply was tested before shipped out from the supplier. We have 4~5 hrs burned in test

I wanted to add to this thread. I've converted a K40 earlier this year. It was very easy and straight forward. I'll be more than happy to help and I'll check the forum more often in the next couple of days. Marco is great - hands down. I'd buy from him again in a heartbeat. As with any DIY project, you do need to be resourceful (google, books, etc). For a conversion like this, you need at least a good multimeter and CHECK YOUR GROUNDING!

Feel free to pm me. I'll be more than happy to assist where I can.

Marco, the powersupply looks broken. That's what our friend technician said.
So how does it work now?

We'd like to have it asap (we had a end of october deadline that it's impossible to fullfil at this point :( )
Do I go ahead and buy a new one on your site?
how long will it take?

Thanks.
Also, can you send me the shipping address to where I need to send the broken one?
