JLD612 Relay Usage

Post by ryan »

Hi all,

I just purchased the low-voltage JLD612 and plan on using it in an all 12V DC system, as I'd like to be able to run this from a battery or 'wall-wart' adapter.

I hope to run it in outY=1 mode for PID on Relay J2. This will switch on and off a small 12V 80mm (computer-case type) fan with a pot-type speed controller in line.

I don't have specs for this fan, but I believe it will draw between 0.1 and 0.2 A @ 12V.

I've read cautions about drawing too much current through the relays and wearing them out quickly. With these low amounts of power, should I still be considering a DC/DC SSR for long-term use or will the relay last?

Thank you!

Ryan:

You're fine. Usually a PC fan sholdn't draw more than 1A and it's OK with the relay (max 3A)
