PID Controller direct to small fan

Post by Peetem »

I would like to use the TET612 to directly control a small fan (5-12 vdc computer). It doesn't need much current so I was thinking I could use the SSR output hooked directly to it.

Would that work?

Your fan will ask for too much current from the SSR output. You can build a little buffer amplifier to boost the current, but then you also need a power source, etc. But a simple one-transistor emitter-follower circuit will do the job.
